Jorge y Sandy Benitez

In 1980, when Jorge Benitez arrived in California from El Salvador, he may not have looked to an observer like someone who would go on to build a large financial services business. “I didn’t have any money, I didn’t speak any English,” remembers Jorge.

But Jorge had something else that would serve him well – a burning desire to succeed. “I left my first job as a handyman to make deliveries for the film studios. At that job, I would see so many people living in luxury and I wanted better for myself – I just didn’t know how to get there.”

Jorge continued to build a life in his new country. He met and married Sandy, also from El Salvador. They both worked and struggled for a better life. Then one day, one of Sandy’s coworkers came to talk to them about Primerica. “I was hooked after the first five minutes,” laughs Jorge. “I saw how things could be so much better and I knew I could help them be better!”

After their start in 1988, Jorge and Sandy earned so much money during their third month with Primerica that Sandy decided to work the business full time. “She just came home one day and told me she had quit her job and was going to put 100 percent into Primerica,” remembers Jorge. “I joined her full-time the next month. Once we did that, we started to really take off.”

By their third year in Primerica, Sandy and Jorge were doing very well financially. “Now my family has options I would have never let myself dream of,” smiles Jorge. “My two daughters can do whatever they want and we can support their dreams. But the greatest thing about being in business with Primerica is that it isn’t just about my immediate family, it’s about all the other people who we have been able to help. We can look back on literally thousands of people’s lives that we have changed for the better.”

“And now, with the growth of the U.S. Hispanic community,” continues Jorge, “the need for Primerica’s approach to financial education and solutions is greater than ever  – for those who are living now and who are yet to be born.”
